UGREEN HDMI 8K@60Hz Fiber Optic Cable Male to Male, Aluminium Shell, 30m

Run a high-resolution HDMI connection over a 30-metre distance with the UGREEN HD183 active optical cable. Designed for compatible 8K at 60Hz equipment, it combines HDMI 2.1 bandwidth with a fibre-optic signal path for longer AV installations. It suits rooms where a projector, TV or display is positioned well away from the computer, console or media source. The 30m run is intended for layouts where ordinary desk-length HDMI leads are too short: a projector across a presentation room, a screen separated from an equipment rack or a display in a larger AV space. Because the cable contains active electronics, it needs to be connected in the marked direction. Check the full route and test the exact source, display and audio arrangement before completing an installation. Its rating gives compatible equipment a high-bandwidth connection; it does not add capabilities to the equipment itself.

Key features

30-metre installation length

Bridge a longer source-to-display route for home cinema, conference-room or presentation equipment. Include the climb to ceiling equipment, the route around room edges and access behind each device in your measurement. Leave enough slack to connect the ends without tension.

8K at 60Hz support

Up to 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth supports compatible high-resolution video systems. The connected source and screen determine the output modes available. An 8K-labelled cable does not require an 8K screen for use. Set the source to a resolution and refresh rate that the connected display actually supports.

Active optical construction

Fibre-optic transmission carries the main high-speed signal across the long cable run, with a flexible PVC jacket for routing. The ends remain full-size HDMI plugs. Protect both connector assemblies while routing and avoid treating the cable as a cut-to-length bulk fibre product.

AV feature support

HDR10+, Dolby Vision and eARC support let compatible devices use their picture and audio features through the connection. These features depend on compatible source, display and audio equipment. Check the relevant HDMI port labels and device settings when building a system around a particular function.

Where it fits

Long projector runs

Connect a media rack or computer to an HDMI projector positioned across a room.

High-resolution displays

Connect a supported HDMI source to a distant TV or monitor while keeping the source equipment in a convenient location.

An AV rack away from the display

Arrange source equipment where it can be operated and maintained while carrying HDMI to a distant screen. Check any receiver, switch or adapter that sits in the path, because the finished installation is limited by the capabilities of every component in the connection.

Will it work with your setup?

  • HDMI-equipped PCs, consoles and media players connected to compatible HDMI TVs, monitors and projectors.
  • 8K, HDR and eARC features require support from the connected equipment.

Setup and everyday use

  1. Measure the planned route, including bends and access to both device ports.
  2. Connect the Source end to the playback device and the Display end to the TV, monitor or projector. This cable works in that direction.
  3. Test the required picture and audio modes before final installation. Select supported output settings on the source device.

Frequently asked questions

Is SKU 55508 the 30m HDMI 2.1 version?
Yes. SKU 55508 is the HD 183 active optical HDMI cable in the 30m length, with up to 48Gbps bandwidth and support for compatible 8K at 60Hz systems. Check the complete routed distance before ordering, including vertical sections and access behind equipment. Other lengths can share the HD 183 family name, so the SKU and length are the useful details when comparing listings or planning an installation.
Why do the Source and Display markings matter?
The main video signal travels through this active optical cable in a defined direction. Source connects to the computer, console, media player or relevant HDMI output; Display connects to the TV, monitor or projector. If you reverse the cable, normal video operation will not work. Identify the ends before pulling it along the route, and keep their labels accessible until the final connection has been tested.
Can I use the cable with a 4K screen or older HDMI equipment?
You can use it between compatible HDMI devices at a mutually supported mode. The source and display choose the usable resolution and refresh rate; the 8K capability does not force a lower-resolution screen to accept an unsupported signal. Check any adapters or intermediate AV equipment as well. If changing settings, start with a mode both devices support, confirm a stable picture and then select the desired output.
What is required to display 8K at 60Hz?
An 8K-capable source and display are required, together with compatible HDMI ports and settings throughout the connection. The content or application must also provide the intended resolution. A receiver, switch or adapter between them can restrict the available mode, even when the cable itself supports the bandwidth. Test the complete equipment chain at the intended settings before final installation; the cable cannot upgrade a 4K output or display into an 8K one.
How does eARC fit with a directional cable?
eARC is an HDMI audio-return feature, and it requires compatible eARC ports on the TV and audio equipment. The Source and Display labels still determine the main video direction; they should not be swapped casually to chase an audio setting. When connecting an AV receiver and TV, follow the devices' connection instructions and enable the appropriate audio-return settings. Test your exact TV, receiver or soundbar arrangement before securing a long cable run.
Can I run it through a wall or ceiling?
Plan the route carefully and confirm that the chosen cable and installation method meet the requirements for that space. A long cable or PVC jacket alone does not establish a concealed-installation rating. Keep the HDMI heads protected, leave gentle bends and avoid crushing or sharply folding the run. Test both picture and audio before fixing anything permanently, and leave suitable access at each end for connection and later servicing.
Can the cable be cut, joined or extended?
Treat it as a complete active optical assembly with electronics at its ends. It is not intended to be cut and terminated like bulk installation cable. An extra HDMI coupler, extension or wall plate adds another connection and may limit performance, so do not assume the original rating applies to a modified chain. Measure carefully, choose the required length and test any unavoidable intermediate components before completing the route.
What should I try if the display flickers or reports no signal?
Confirm cable direction and the selected HDMI input first, then check that both plugs are fully seated. Test a lower supported resolution to separate basic connection issues from a demanding output mode. Temporarily remove switches, wall plates or adapters if practical. Try the source and display directly with a known-working connection, then rebuild the intended setup step by step. Check device firmware and HDMI input settings if the issue appears only in a particular mode.
