Know what connects where.
Connection overview. Check the requirements below for the exact ports, cable type and supported operating mode.

One source here. Another over there.
Route any connected input to any of the 2 outputs. Put a presentation on one screen and a separate feed on another, or send the same programme to every display without changing cables.
Make sure it fits your setup.
Independent sources
A matrix routes existing video signals. For different content on different screens, connect distinct sources or independent computer video outputs.
Mixed display formats
Check each display’s supported resolution, HDR and audio format. A resolution scaler does not add formats a screen cannot decode.
Audio routing
ARC return and optical audio extraction are associated with HDMI Output 2. Analogue output supports stereo PCM; optical supports stereo PCM and compatible compressed 5.1.

A little clarity before you buy.
How is a matrix different from a splitter?
A splitter repeats one input on several outputs. A matrix can select a different input for each output.
Can it turn one PC output into separate extended desktops?
No. One HDMI input is one video signal. Independent desktop content needs separate graphics outputs from the computer.
Will optical output carry lossless Dolby TrueHD?
No. Optical audio is limited to supported stereo PCM and compressed surround formats. Use a suitable HDMI audio path for lossless formats.
