How switching and multi-display behavior works

One computer is active on the single HDMI display and shared USB set at a time. This is not a dual-monitor KVM and it does not merge the two computers.

Control: Top button or keyboard hotkey. The keyboard must be connected to a USB 1.1 port for hotkey switching. A buzzer confirms channel changes and can be disabled by the documented hotkey..

Never assume: a product advertised as “bidirectional,” “splitter” or “matrix” behaves like another topology. Follow the source/output map above.

Setup and usability guidance

Best first test: one source, one short cable path, one display and 1080p60. Expand only after this baseline works.

  1. Step 1: Connect each computer’s HDMI output to the matching HDMI input.
  2. Step 2: Connect each computer to the matching USB-B host port using the two listed USB-A-to-B cables.
  3. Step 3: Connect the display to HDMI Output.
  4. Step 4: Connect keyboard and mouse to the USB 1.1 ports; use the USB 2.0 ports for other compatible peripherals.
  5. Step 5: Power both computers, then select a channel with the button.
  6. Step 6: Test hotkeys only after the keyboard is in the designated port and begin video setup at 1080p60.

What this product does

  • Follows this path: Computer 1: HDMI + USB-B host link; Computer 2: HDMI + USB-B host link → selected KVM channel → one HDMI output + four shared USB-A ports.
  • Supports its ceiling: Up to 4K30; 1080p60 supported.
  • Uses these ports: 2 × HDMI female and 2 × USB-B host ports → 1 × HDMI female; 2 × USB 2.0 Type-A; 2 × USB 1.1 Type-A keyboard/mouse ports.
  • Handles control this way: Top button or keyboard hotkey. The keyboard must be connected to a USB 1.1 port for hotkey switching. A buzzer confirms channel changes and can be disabled by the documented hotkey..
  • Passes compatible audio: Compatible HDMI audio follows the selected computer to the display. No separate microphone or analogue audio switching is provided.

What this product does not do

  • One display only
  • 4K30 ceiling, not 4K60
  • USB sharing is USB 2.0/1.1, not USB 3.x
  • No separate analogue audio ports
  • Keyboard hotkeys require the designated USB 1.1 keyboard port
  • High-power USB devices may need their own supply

What to do

Verify cables.

Power safely.

Record settings.

What not to do

Do not reverse.

Do not confuse.

Do not assume scaling.

Do not force.

Do not overclaim.

Warnings and limitations

  • Power: Normally powered from the two connected computers through the included USB-A-to-B host cables; no separate adapter is required.
  • Display negotiation: mixed displays can force a lower common mode or create a blank screen.
  • Protected content: HDCP must be supported end to end; the device cannot bypass protection.
  • Heat and moisture: indoor use only; keep dry, ventilated and away from direct heat.
  • Cables: The listing gives up to 5m input + 5m output at 4K30 with suitable 28AWG cable and up to 12m + 12m at 1080p60 with suitable 26AWG cable. Treat these as best-case listed limits.
