UGREEN 40203EU 1×8 HDMI 1.4 Splitter, 4K30
Overview
Correct direction is the first troubleshooting check. Similar-looking HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C products can require completely different source and display sides.

How switching and multi-display behavior works
All active outputs mirror one source. It cannot show eight inputs or create eight independent workspaces. Mixed displays must accept a common negotiated mode.
Control: Front connection/status indicators; no source selector.
Never assume: a product advertised as “bidirectional,” “splitter” or “matrix” behaves like another topology. Follow the source/output map above.

Setup and usability guidance
Best first test: one source, one short cable path, one display and 1080p60. Expand only after this baseline works.
- Step 1: Mount the unit where the 12V supply and nine HDMI runs remain ventilated and accessible.
- Step 2: Connect the source and Output 1 first.
- Step 3: Power the display, splitter and source; confirm 1080p60.
- Step 4: Add outputs sequentially and label each cable.
- Step 5: Choose a resolution and content-protection mode every screen supports.
- Step 6: After all eight paths are stable, test the highest required mode and restart the full chain once.

What this product does
- Follows this path: One HDMI input → 12V powered distribution → eight simultaneous HDMI outputs carrying one common signal.
- Supports its ceiling: Up to 4K × 2K at 30Hz; compatible 1080p and lower modes.
- Uses these ports: 1 × HDMI Type-A female → 8 × HDMI Type-A female.
- Handles control this way: Front connection/status indicators; no source selector.
- Passes compatible audio: Compatible HDMI audio is duplicated with the video. The device does not mix, extract or independently route eight audio programmes.
What this product does not do
- 4K30 maximum; not 4K60
- Mirror only
- One source only
- HDCP 1.4 ceiling as listed
- No per-output scaling or independent refresh selection
What to do
Label.
Build gradually.
Verify cables.
Power safely.
Record settings.
What not to do
Do not reverse.
Do not confuse.
Do not assume scaling.
Do not force.
Do not overclaim.
Warnings and limitations
- Power: 12V DC adapter required and listed in the package.
- Display negotiation: mixed displays can force a lower common mode or create a blank screen.
- Protected content: HDCP must be supported end to end; the device cannot bypass protection.
- Heat and moisture: indoor use only; keep dry, ventilated and away from direct heat.
- Cables: A powered splitter can restore distribution drive but cannot make arbitrary cable lengths reliable. Use short known-good cables during commissioning and qualify every final route.
