UGREEN 20719 2m XLR Female to 6.35mm TS Cable
Overview
UGREEN 20719 adapts physical connector types within a passive analogue route: full-size 3-pin XLR female at one end and 6.35mm TS mono male at the other. The XLR female commonly mates with a microphone’s male XLR output, while the TS plug enters a compatible mono microphone or line input.
What it does well.

Key features
Highlights
- Connector A: full-size 3-pin XLR female with latch.
- Connector B: 6.35mm TS mono male with one insulating ring.
- Length: 2m.
- Signal format: passive unbalanced mono analogue audio at the TS endpoint.
- Construction: oxygen-free-copper conductor, shielding, flexible black PVC jacket, metal XLR shell and gold-plated TS plug surface.
Connector map and signal direction
Know every end
This cable is physically unlike a normal XLR extension. The XLR female and TS male endpoints must match the actual device roles and signal levels.
- XLR female: receives a full-size 3-pin XLR male output, commonly on a dynamic microphone or other balanced source.
- 6.35mm TS male: inserts into a compatible female mono microphone or unbalanced line input.
- Signal direction: no active one-way electronics are present, but the normal path is source output at the XLR side toward a receiving input at the TS side.
- Balance: the TS endpoint cannot carry the two signal polarities of a balanced XLR pair, so the resulting link is unbalanced.
- Level: a microphone may produce a much lower signal than a line or instrument input expects; the receiving equipment must supply suitable microphone gain.
Use scenarios
Where it makes sense
Use SKU 20719 only where the XLR-source-to-TS-input roles are explicitly supported. A physical fit does not guarantee enough level or correct impedance.
- Dynamic microphone with a male 3-pin XLR output to an amplifier, mixer or recorder that has a 6.35mm TS microphone input with suitable gain.
- Compatible wireless microphone receiver male XLR output to a 6.35mm mono input, after verifying whether the receiver output is mic or line level.
- Other full-size XLR male analogue source to a TS mono input when both manuals permit an unbalanced connection and the levels agree.
- Short public-address or rehearsal route where 2m is sufficient and the cable can be separated from mains leads and speaker power cables.
- Not the right choice when phantom power, a balanced long run, stereo audio or a digital/USB input is required.
Setup and usability guidance
Connect with confidence
Because the endpoint changes from balanced-capable XLR to unbalanced TS, start with equipment muted and confirm the receiving input mode before raising gain.
- Confirm the source has a full-size male 3-pin XLR analogue output and the destination has a female 6.35mm TS-compatible input.
- Check the destination manual for microphone versus line/instrument level. If a mic preamp is required and absent, choose an appropriate preamp or interface instead.
- Turn phantom power off, mute the channel and lower speaker/headphone levels. Do not try to send phantom power through the TS endpoint.
- Latch the XLR female connector onto the source and insert the 6.35mm TS plug fully into the receiving input.
- Raise gain gradually while monitoring noise and clipping. Route the 2m cable away from mains power and disconnect using the connector shells.
Compatible devices and systems
Match the physical and electrical interface
Compatibility requires the connector genders, analogue signal type and voltage/impedance expectations to match.
- Dynamic microphones with a standard male 3-pin XLR output, used with a suitable 6.35mm microphone input.
- Wireless microphone receivers or other audio sources with a male XLR output, when their output level is accepted by the TS input.
- Mixers, amplifiers, PA equipment or recorders with a 6.35mm TS mono input that is documented for the incoming signal level.
- Not suitable for a microphone that requires phantom power unless a separate proper preamp/supply and balanced microphone connection are used before this cable.
- Not a direct connection for XLR female source ports, TRS balanced inputs, stereo headphones, RCA, 3.5mm, USB, optical or passive-speaker terminals.
What this product does
Capabilities
- Provides a physical full-size XLR female-to-6.35mm TS male connection over 2m.
- Carries one passive mono analogue signal into a compatible unbalanced TS input.
- Allows a microphone with male XLR output to reach selected equipment that has a suitable 6.35mm microphone input.
- Uses a locking XLR female connector to secure the source end when it mates correctly.
- Works without software or power because it contains no active electronics.
What this product does not do
Clear boundaries
- It does not preserve a balanced signal through the 6.35mm TS endpoint.
- It does not provide phantom power and should not be used as a phantom-power route.
- It does not amplify microphone level, convert impedance, attenuate a hot line output or automatically match device levels.
- It does not carry stereo, USB audio, digital audio, Bluetooth or speaker power.
- It does not turn a 6.35mm output into an XLR input merely by reversing the intended equipment roles; confirm every port before use.
What to do
Good practice
- Turn the source volume down, mute the channel or power equipment off before inserting or removing plugs; this reduces loud pops and protects connected speakers and hearing.
- Push each connector fully home without twisting the cable as a lever. A partly seated plug can lose a channel, hum, crackle or make intermittent contact.
- Route the cable away from mains adapters, motorised equipment and sharp metal edges where practical, then provide enough slack that the connector is not carrying the cable weight.
- Coil the cable in broad, relaxed loops for storage. Inspect the plugs, strain reliefs and jacket before a recording, performance or long unattended session.
- Confirm the source output type, destination input type and expected signal level in both device manuals; matching connector diameter alone is not enough.
What not to do
Avoid these mistakes
- Do not enable phantom power into this XLR-to-TS cable. Use a proper balanced XLR microphone chain for phantom-powered microphones.
- Do not connect an amplifier speaker output, mains source or powered-speaker terminal to either end.
- Do not assume a 6.35mm instrument input has enough gain for a low-level microphone. Check the input specification.
- Do not connect outputs together or use gender changers to force a route that the equipment manuals do not support.
- Do not pull on the cable, defeat the XLR latch, kink the PVC jacket at the connector or leave the run as a trip hazard.
Warnings and limitations
Important safety and performance notes
The TS endpoint removes the balanced pair and makes correct level selection especially important. Use a proper audio interface or preamp when you need predictable microphone gain, phantom power or balanced noise rejection.
- Keep phantom power off. A TS plug is not an appropriate endpoint for a balanced phantom-powered microphone circuit.
- A dynamic microphone can sound very quiet into a line or instrument input because those inputs may not provide enough microphone gain.
- A hot line-level XLR source may overload a sensitive microphone input. Confirm the source output level and receiving input type before connecting.
- Unbalanced TS wiring is more susceptible to hum and interference. Keep the 2m route away from power adapters, transformers and lighting controls.
- Stop using the cable if the XLR latch, plug, jacket or strain relief is loose or damaged.
Troubleshooting and buying checklist
Solve common connection problems
Most issues with this adapter are level, role or grounding problems rather than software. Test with levels down and compare each endpoint against its manual.
- No signal: verify that the XLR device is an output, the 6.35mm device port is an input, the TS plug is fully seated and the correct channel is selected.
- Very low microphone level: the receiving jack may be line/instrument level and lack a mic preamp. Use an appropriate microphone input or external preamp.
- Distortion: lower source/output level and input gain; a line output may be too hot for a microphone input.
- Hum: shorten and separate the unbalanced route from mains leads, test the connected power arrangement and avoid unnecessary adapter chains.
- Before buying: verify XLR female at the cable, TS male at the cable, 2m length, compatible source-to-input roles, and no need for phantom power or stereo.
