A practical guide to choosing and using it
Bring a two-plug headset to one headset socket. Some headsets have a separate plug for listening and another for their microphone, while many laptops provide one combined audio-and-microphone socket. This adapter connects those two headset plugs to a compatible combined CTIA port. The marked female sockets help identify the correct connection, so headphone audio and microphone input follow the intended paths.
Understand the direction of the adapter. The single male plug goes into the host device. The two female sockets receive the headphone and microphone plugs from the headset. If your situation is the opposite—a headset with one combined plug and a computer with separate headphone and microphone ports—you need the opposite adapter arrangement. Check which side of the connection has the single port before buying.
A compact addition to a desk or laptop bag. The short 20 cm connection helps keep the adapter close to the device without adding another long cable run. Leave enough freedom for the two headset leads to sit naturally, and avoid using the adapter as a handle when moving the laptop. Its useful role is connector routing; sound level and recording controls remain with the connected device and software.
Set up both listening and speaking. Connect the headset plugs to the marked sockets first, then insert the combined plug into the host. Check the headphone output and microphone input selections in the operating system and in the calling or gaming application. A quick test recording is useful before an important call, especially if the computer has several audio devices or previously selected a built-in microphone.

Where it fits

A closer look
Before you buy
- The two female sockets have different functions. This is not a two-headphone music-sharing splitter.
