UGREEN US184 USB-A to USB-C 5Gbps Cable, 0.5m, Black (20881)
UGREEN US184 USB-A to USB-C 5Gbps Cable, 0.5m, Black
Keep a short connection between your USB-A equipment and a USB-C device with the UGREEN US184 20881. This black 0.5m cable combines charging and data transfer, supporting a USB 3.0 connection of up to 5Gbps and charging current of up to 3A with compatible equipment. Its 50cm length suits a phone beside a power bank, a portable drive beside a laptop, or another close connection where a longer cable would leave spare loops on the desk. The cable has a USB-A male plug at one end and a reversible USB-C male plug at the other. Choose it for the ports you already have, then check the speed and charging capabilities of those devices.

What it does well.

Key features
Up to 5Gbps data transfer. The USB 3.0 connection supports moving photos, documents and other files between a compatible USB-A computer and USB-C device. Both ends of the setup need USB 3.x support to use the cable's maximum data rate.
Charging up to 3A. US184 supports compatible USB-A charging modes including QC3.0, AFC and FCP. Charging speed depends on the source and receiving device agreeing on a shared mode; the cable does not set the charging power by itself.
Compact 50cm length. A short cable helps keep nearby devices connected without a large coil. Measure the route between your ports and allow a gentle bend at each connector, especially when a phone is on a stand or inside a case.
Shielded copper construction. The US184 datasheet lists tin-plated copper conductors, multiple internal shielding and a 56kΩ pull-up resistor. The black PVC jacket and moulded connectors give this cable a practical finish for everyday charging and synchronisation.

A practical guide to choosing and using it
Choose the correct connection. Use the USB-A end with a computer, charger or power bank that has a matching USB-A socket. The USB-C end connects to the device being charged or accessed. A laptop with only USB-C sockets needs a different cable or an appropriate adapter.
Plan for the complete setup. A fast cable cannot increase the speed of a slower phone, drive or computer port. For file transfers, the device's storage and software also affect the result. For charging, check the charger's supported output and the device manufacturer's recommended charging method.

Where it fits
Portable charging. Connect a USB-C phone or compatible accessory to a nearby USB-A power bank, with less spare cable to organise in a pouch or on a table.
Desk data connection. Keep a compatible USB-C portable drive beside a USB-A laptop or desktop port for file access and backups, provided the port supplies sufficient power.
Everyday synchronisation. Move supported files between a computer and a USB-C phone or tablet, or connect compatible USB-C accessories that use a USB-A host.
Will it work with your setup?
- USB-A computers, USB-A wall chargers, power banks and compatible vehicle ports, paired with USB-C devices that support the intended connection.
- USB-C smartphones, tablets, storage devices and accessories within the host port's available power and the device's supported USB functions.
- USB 2.0 hosts and devices can operate at their lower supported data rate. The cable itself does not require a separate driver.
Setup and everyday use
- Check that the source has a USB-A socket, the other device has USB-C, and 50cm covers the route without pulling on either plug.
- Insert the USB-A plug in the correct orientation and connect the reversible USB-C plug to the other device. Hold the connector housing when connecting or disconnecting.
- For file transfers, use a data-capable computer port. Unlock the phone or tablet and approve any trust prompt or file-transfer setting requested by its operating system.
- Test charging or a small file transfer before arranging the cable permanently. Eject a storage device through the computer's operating system before unplugging it.
