Run a high-resolution HDMI connection over a 30-metre distance with the UGREEN HD183 active optical cable. Designed for compatible 8K at 60Hz equipment, it combines HDMI 2.1 bandwidth with a fibre-optic signal path for longer AV installations. It suits rooms where a projector, TV or display is positioned well away from the computer, console or media source. The 30m run is intended for layouts where ordinary desk-length HDMI leads are too short: a projector across a presentation room, a screen separated from an equipment rack or a display in a larger AV space. Because the cable contains active electronics, it needs to be connected in the marked direction. Check the full route and test the exact source, display and audio arrangement before completing an installation. Its rating gives compatible equipment a high-bandwidth connection; it does not add capabilities to the equipment itself.

What it does well.
Key features
30-metre installation length. Bridge a longer source-to-display route for home cinema, conference-room or presentation equipment. Include the climb to ceiling equipment, the route around room edges and access behind each device in your measurement. Leave enough slack to connect the ends without tension.
8K at 60Hz support. Up to 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth supports compatible high-resolution video systems. The connected source and screen determine the output modes available. An 8K-labelled cable does not require an 8K screen for use. Set the source to a resolution and refresh rate that the connected display actually supports.
Active optical construction. Fibre-optic transmission carries the main high-speed signal across the long cable run, with a flexible PVC jacket for routing. The ends remain full-size HDMI plugs. Protect both connector assemblies while routing and avoid treating the cable as a cut-to-length bulk fibre product.
AV feature support. HDR10+, Dolby Vision and eARC support let compatible devices use their picture and audio features through the connection. These features depend on compatible source, display and audio equipment. Check the relevant HDMI port labels and device settings when building a system around a particular function.
Where it fits
Long projector runs. Connect a media rack or computer to an HDMI projector positioned across a room.
High-resolution displays. Connect a supported HDMI source to a distant TV or monitor while keeping the source equipment in a convenient location.
An AV rack away from the display. Arrange source equipment where it can be operated and maintained while carrying HDMI to a distant screen. Check any receiver, switch or adapter that sits in the path, because the finished installation is limited by the capabilities of every component in the connection.

Setup and everyday use
- Measure the planned route, including bends and access to both device ports.
- Connect the Source end to the playback device and the Display end to the TV, monitor or projector. This cable works in that direction.
- Test the required picture and audio modes before final installation. Select supported output settings on the source device.
