Product guide

Overview

Create a wired network connection between two compatible RJ45 devices with the 2m UGREEN NW102 patch cable. SKU 20160 is a Cat 6 U/UTP cable rated for Gigabit Ethernet and 250MHz channel bandwidth. It is intended for short home, office and equipment-rack connections where a flexible unshielded patch lead is appropriate.

Features

What it does well.

UGREEN 20160 black Cat 6 cable with two RJ45 connectors

Key features

Highlights

  • RJ45 male to RJ45 male Cat 6 Ethernet patch cable.
  • 2m length for nearby routers, switches, computers and network devices.
  • Maximum listed network rate of 1000Mbps with compatible equipment.
  • 250MHz channel bandwidth.
  • U/UTP unshielded four-pair construction with eight conductors.
  • 26AWG stranded CCA conductors and a PVC outer jacket.
  • Backward compatible with standard lower-speed Ethernet connections that use RJ45 ports.

How it fits into your setup

Connection logic

The complete network path sets the link speed. Use the 2m patch cable between compatible RJ45 Ethernet ports on equipment such as a router, switch, computer, network printer, access point or other network device. It provides the physical wired link; it does not supply internet service or configure the network. The detailed rating is up to 1000Mbps with 250MHz channel bandwidth. Actual throughput is limited by the slowest port, switch, router, network interface, storage path, internet service and protocol overhead in the connection. This U/UTP cable is unshielded and uses 26AWG stranded CCA conductors. Route it as a flexible patch lead in an ordinary indoor installation and avoid treating it as a shielded industrial cable or certified in-wall permanent building cable.

Use scenarios

Real-world workflows

Use scenario 1

Connect a desktop computer or laptop with Ethernet to a nearby router or switch.

Use scenario 2

Link a smart television, media player or game console to a wired home network.

Use scenario 3

Connect a network printer, NAS, access point or IP device to a switch port.

Use scenario 4

Use as a short patch lead in a home-office desk, media cabinet or compact equipment rack.

Setup and usability guidance

Step-by-step

Plan the route and confirm that 2m reaches both devices without stretching.

Insert each RJ45 plug until the locking tab clicks into place.

Keep the cable away from sharp edges, crushing loads and strong electrical interference.

Check link lights and the operating system’s negotiated Ethernet speed.

If the link is slow, test both endpoint ports, confirm Gigabit settings and replace other network components one at a time.

Compatible devices and systems

Match the complete system

Compatibility check 1

Compatible with standard RJ45 Ethernet ports on routers, switches, computers, docks, printers, NAS devices, televisions, consoles and access points.

Compatibility check 2

Devices with only USB or USB-C require a separate compatible Ethernet adapter or dock.

Compatibility check 3

Network speed is limited by the slowest part of the route, including the internet plan, router, switch, network adapter, cable termination and remote server.

What this product does

  • Carries wired Ethernet data between compatible RJ45 devices.
  • Supports Gigabit Ethernet up to the listed 1000Mbps link rate.
  • Provides a 2m patch connection with Cat 6 / 250MHz construction.
  • Can replace Wi-Fi for devices where a stable wired link is preferred.
  • It does not make an internet service, router or network adapter faster than its own limit.
  • It does not provide USB, telephone, fibre or HDMI connectivity.
  • It is unshielded and does not provide the additional screening of F/UTP, S/FTP or similar shielded cable.
  • It is not advertised here for 10Gbps operation; this SKU specifications state 1000Mbps and 250MHz.
  • It does not supply Power over Ethernet unless both network endpoints provide and accept PoE.

Check before buying

Important limitations

Use this checklist to confirm this model suits the intended job.

  • Confirm both devices have standard RJ45 Ethernet ports rather than a telephone-style socket.
  • Check that 2m reaches without stretching, tight bends or pressure on either network port.
  • Use the conservative specification of 1000Mbps and 250MHz for this SKU.
  • Choose shielded cabling when the installation design specifically requires shielding and compatible shielded terminations.
  • Check local installation rules before routing any patch cable inside walls, ceilings or permanent building spaces.

What to do

  • Use the cable for short indoor RJ45 patching within its 2m reach.
  • Leave gentle bends and strain relief near both plugs.
  • Keep connectors clean and protect the locking tabs during storage.
  • Test the local network link separately from internet speed when troubleshooting.
  • Do not pull the cable tight, staple through it or close it under a door.
  • Do not run U/UTP directly alongside high-current mains cables for long distances.
  • Do not assume a 1Gbps link guarantees 1Gbps internet throughput.
  • Do not use outdoors, in wet locations or for permanent in-wall installation unless local requirements explicitly permit this jacket type.

Warnings and limitations

Safe and realistic operation

Warning 1. This SKU is specified at 250MHz and up to 1000Mbps. It is not presented here for a 10Gbps network requirement.

Warning 2. CCA conductors and unshielded construction make this a basic patch cable; choose a pure-copper or shielded cable where an installation standard requires it.

Warning 3. A damaged locking tab can allow intermittent disconnection. Replace the cable if a plug will not remain seated.

Warning 4. PoE capability depends on the powering and powered devices and applicable cabling requirements, not on the cable label alone.

Specifications

At a glance.

If you notice
Check this first
No link light or network connection
Reseat both RJ45 plugs until the latch clicks, try another router or switch port and confirm that both devices are powered and enabled.
Link negotiates at 100Mbps
Check that both ports support Gigabit Ethernet, inspect the connectors and test the cable directly without intermediate couplers or wall jacks.
Internet is slower than the cable rating
The 1000Mbps cable rating is not an internet-speed promise. Test the local wired link and then review router, service-plan and remote-server limits.
Connection drops when the cable moves
Inspect the latch, jacket and connector strain relief. Replace the cable if movement interrupts the link or exposes damage.
Performance changes near power equipment
Reroute the unshielded cable away from strong interference sources and avoid bundling it tightly with mains power wiring.

FAQs

Questions buyers ask.

Will it give me 1Gbps internet?

It can support a 1000Mbps Ethernet link with compatible equipment, but internet throughput is also limited by the service plan, router, network adapter and remote server.

Is this cable shielded?

No. It is U/UTP, meaning the twisted pairs do not have an overall metallic shield.

Is the conductor pure copper?

this SKU specification states CCA, not pure copper. Choose a separately pure-copper cable if that material is required.

Can I use it with a USB-C laptop?

Only through a compatible USB-C Ethernet adapter or dock. The cable itself terminates in RJ45 plugs.

Does it support 10Gbps?

This description does not claim 10Gbps because the detailed model values are 1000Mbps and 250MHz.

Can it connect a router to a smart TV or console?

Yes, when both devices have standard RJ45 Ethernet ports and the 2m length reaches without tension.

Can it carry PoE?

Only when the network equipment provides and accepts PoE and the installation meets the relevant requirements. The cable does not create PoE power.

Why is the link only 100Mbps?

Check both endpoint port ratings, network settings, connector seating and other cables. A damaged conductor or a 100Mbps device anywhere in the route can lower negotiation.

Will this cable make my internet connection 1Gbps?

Not by itself. It can support a Gigabit Ethernet link when both ports and the rest of the network do so, while internet speed remains limited by the router, service and destination.

Is it a shielded Ethernet cable?

No. The construction is U/UTP, meaning unshielded twisted pair. Use a shielded solution when the installation specifically requires shielding.

Can I use it between a router and a network switch?

Yes, when both devices use compatible RJ45 Ethernet ports. Link speed is negotiated by the connected ports and the complete network path.
