At a glance
USB-C male input. Connects to a host port that supports video output. Connector shape alone is not enough.
HDMI female output. Accepts a standard HDMI male cable leading to one monitor, television or projector.
20cm integrated lead. Provides flexible placement beside the host without a separate USB-C cable.
White compact housing. A lightweight adapter body designed for desk, classroom, meeting-room and travel use.
Mirror a presentation or extend a compatible desktop
DISPLAY OUTPUT
Use the adapter with an HDMI-equipped display for documents, photographs, video playback, presentations and a larger workspace. The host operating system controls whether the external screen mirrors the built-in display or acts as an extended desktop.
The adapter supports up to 4K at 30Hz. If the screen is blank or motion feels slow, select a mutually supported lower resolution or refresh rate and retest with a known-good HDMI cable.
- One HDMI display
- Up to 4K at 30Hz
- Mirror or extend where the host supports it
- Compatible HDMI audio
- No driver normally required
USB-C must carry a video signal
HOST REQUIREMENT
USB-C describes a connector, not a guaranteed feature set. A charging-only or data-only USB-C port cannot produce HDMI video through this adapter. Look for DisplayPort Alternate Mode, USB4 display support or a compatible Thunderbolt symbol in the host documentation.
Selected MacBook, Chromebook, Windows laptop, tablet and smartphone models support external displays, but compatibility must be checked by exact model and port.
- DisplayPort Alt Mode
- Compatible Thunderbolt video
- USB4 display output
- Host GPU and operating-system support
- A supported HDMI display mode

Carry one small adapter and use the HDMI cable at the venue
PORTABLE HARDWARE
The 20cm lead and 22g listed weight make the adapter easy to keep in a laptop sleeve or presentation pouch. It is useful when a slim USB-C device has no built-in HDMI socket.
A separate HDMI cable is still required. Choose a cable rated for the intended resolution, support the cable's weight and avoid sharp bends at the integrated USB-C lead.
- No external power input
- No software installation for normal operation
- No detachable USB-C cable to forget
- HDMI cable not confirmed as included
- Protect the integrated lead from strain
Use scenarios
Real-world workflows
A direct display adapter for common everyday situations
Meeting room. Connect a compatible USB-C laptop to an HDMI projector or conference-room display for slides and documents.
Second screen. Extend a supported laptop desktop to one HDMI monitor for additional application space.
Television playback. Mirror compatible photographs or video from a laptop, tablet or selected phone to an HDMI television.
Travel kit. Keep the lightweight adapter with a known-good HDMI cable for hotel, classroom or temporary-desk displays.
Compatible devices and systems
Compatibility
Compatible with video-capable USB-C hosts and HDMI displays
Mac computers. Works with compatible MacBook and other Mac USB-C/Thunderbolt ports that support external video.
Windows and ChromeOS. Compatible laptops and Chromebooks can use the adapter when the selected USB-C port exposes DisplayPort video.
Tablets and phones. Selected iPad, Android tablet and smartphone models provide external video; many USB-C mobile devices do not.
HDMI destinations. Connect a monitor, TV, projector or receiver that accepts the source's selected HDMI resolution and audio format.
Check before buying
Important limitations
Check these points before ordering or connecting:
- Confirm the host USB-C port explicitly supports external video.
- The signal direction is USB-C source to HDMI display only.
- Maximum output is 4K at 30Hz; this is not a 4K 60Hz adapter.
- A standard HDMI cable is required and is not verified as included.
- The adapter does not provide USB data ports or USB-C Power Delivery charging.
- Protected streaming may require compatible HDCP support across the host, application, adapter path and display.
- Some mobile operating systems mirror only or restrict certain applications on external displays.
- A USB-C port on a monitor cannot be used as the output destination through this adapter.

What it can—and cannot—do
Function boundaries
- Converts a compatible USB-C DisplayPort video signal to standard HDMI.
- Connects one HDMI display up to the mutually supported 4K 30Hz mode.
- Carries compatible HDMI audio together with video.
- Supports mirror or extended-desktop modes controlled by the host.
- Works without separate power or a normal driver installation on supported systems.
- Provides a 20cm integrated cable and compact white housing.
- It does not work from an HDMI source to a USB-C display.
- It does not add video output to a USB-C port that lacks it.
- It does not support 4K at 60Hz.
- It does not charge the host or provide Power Delivery pass-through.
- It does not transfer ordinary USB files or add USB peripheral ports.
- It does not capture HDMI video, upscale resolution or bypass HDCP.
Setup and usability guidance
Guided connection
Verify video support, connect HDMI, then choose the display mode
- Check the host manual or port specification for DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4 display output or compatible Thunderbolt video.
- Connect the adapter's USB-C male plug directly to the supported host port.
- Connect a suitable standard HDMI cable between the adapter and the display.
- Select the matching HDMI input on the monitor, television or projector.
- Open the host display settings and choose mirror or extended desktop, then select a supported resolution.
- If no picture appears, test a lower mode and a short known-good HDMI cable before changing other equipment.
- Disconnect by holding connector bodies rather than pulling the integrated cable.
Do and avoid
Good practice
- Check host-port video support before purchase.
- Use an HDMI cable rated for the required resolution and refresh rate.
- Select a display mode supported by the source and destination.
- Keep the adapter dry and allow space around the housing.
- Update graphics and operating-system software when display detection is unreliable.
- Support the HDMI cable so it does not strain the USB-C connector.
- Do not connect HDMI as the source and expect USB-C output.
- Do not force 4K60, Power Delivery or USB data through the adapter.
- Do not bend the 20cm lead tightly or pull the adapter by its cable.
- Do not use damaged, loose or wet connectors.
- Do not assume every streaming service or mobile application permits external output.
- Do not use the product as a capture card or USB docking hub.
Warnings and limitations
Safe operation
Safety note 1. A USB-C connector does not guarantee video support. This is the most important compatibility check for the product.
Safety note 2. 4K at 30Hz can appear less smooth for cursor movement than a 60Hz mode. Choose a lower resolution if motion smoothness is the priority.
Safety note 3. A blank screen can result from the wrong HDMI input, unsupported resolution, cable failure, port incompatibility or HDCP restrictions.
Safety note 4. Keep the attached cable free of sharp bends and side load to protect the host USB-C port.
Safety note 5. Stop use if the connector, cable or housing is damaged or unusually hot.

Verified specifications
In the box
A standard HDMI cable is required and is not verified as included. The adapter itself does not require a charger or separate power supply.
Questions buyers ask.
Will it work with any USB-C port?
No. The selected port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4 display output or compatible Thunderbolt video.
What is the maximum resolution?
The maximum listed output is 4K at 30Hz with a compatible source, HDMI cable and display.
Does it support 4K at 60Hz?
No. Choose a different verified model when 4K at 60Hz is required.
Can I connect an HDMI laptop to a USB-C monitor?
No. The adapter is unidirectional from a USB-C video source to an HDMI display.
Does it carry audio?
It can carry compatible HDMI audio with the video when the host, content and receiving equipment support the selected format.
Can it charge my laptop?
No. UGREEN 40273 has no Power Delivery input or charging pass-through.
Does it transfer USB data?
No. It is a display adapter, not a USB data hub.
Do I need to install a driver?
Normally no on a supported host. The computer must already provide a compatible USB-C video signal.
Is an HDMI cable included?
A separate standard HDMI cable is required and is not verified as a package item.
Why is the screen blank?
Check host-port video capability, the HDMI input, cable, resolution, graphics settings and any HDCP restriction. Test with one short known-good cable.
Can a phone use this adapter?
Only selected phones that support wired external video over USB-C. Many USB-C phones provide charging and data but no display output.
